Hemidesmus Indicus is utilised in the preparation of drinks such as nannari sharbat, as well as in traditional medicine. It is given as a syrup in the form of powder, infusion, or decoction. It is among the rasayana herbs of ayurveda. Its pickled roots are eaten with rice meals in southern Indian regions. The root extracts are mixed with sugar and a dash of lemon to make a syrup that is offered at most small refreshment shops in South India.
